A good chocolate chip cookie recipe is a basic.

Everybody loves cookies. They could be soft and chewy or crispy or cakey. You decide which is your favourite. Mine are the soft and super chewy ones.

I think every family has it’s own perfect recipe but what is a food blog without a traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe? Nothing! :)

This is my version of the „perfect” chocolate chip cookies. You can make them with any kind of chocolate or you can add nuts or dried fruit.

This time I made these cookies for my school’s Halloween party. I wanted to bake something easy, fast but a little bit halloweeny so I drizzled the cookies with grey and green colored white chocolate. It’s kind of a last minute recipe.

Cookies are meant to be easy to make but I had to try abillion times to find the perfect recipe. I thinkthe key is that you have to add the perfect amount of butter (rather a little bit more than less). And don’t overbake them!!

They are perfectly soft and chewy inside and the edges are a little bit firmer.

You can make a huge batch of dough then roll balls and freeze them. Then any time you need a few cookies you take out some and bake them a little bit longer than in the original recipe. That’s it! Instant cookies!

They are so easy and fast so go and make some „spooky” last minute Halloween Chocolate Chip Cookies!

P.S.: That's Pepperoni's hand ;)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prep Time: 15 min. Baking Time: 10 min. Total Time: 30 min. Portions: 42 medium cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup or 2 sticks or 225g butter (room temperature!)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 and ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 cups chocolate chips

  • extra chocolate and gel food colour for drizzeling

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 355F or 180C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

  2. In a big bowl mix the butter with an electric mixer on a high speed until it’s really pale and fluffy. (I used a standing mixer.)

  3. Add both sugars and mix on a medium speed unti smooth.

  4. On a low speed add the eggs one at a time, the vanilla and the salt. Mix for 1 minute.

  5. In a medium bowl mix together the flour and the baking soda.

  6. Add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients in small portions. Mix them just until everything is combined.

  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  8. Make balls with a cookie scoop (1 tablespoon) or a spoon. Place them on the baking sheet. Leave at least 2 inches space between the cookies. I baked 8 cookies at a time.

  9. Bake them for 8-10 minutes. It’s good when the cookies are slightly soft and underbaked in the middle but the edges are firm. Don’t over bake them! Let them cool on the sheet for 10 minutes then transfer them onto a wire rack. The cookies firm up as they cool.

  10. For the decoration melt some white chocolate and colour it with food colouring. Drizzle the cookies. I left some chocolate white and also melted a tiny amount of dark cohocolate and I made little eyes.
